Tops Day Nurseries & Shoots Training operate throughout Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Devon, Sussex and Somerset. We offer care at every stage with the provision of nursery care for children, vocational training and apprenticeships for learners.
Tops & Shoots have been taking steps to become a sustainable company – Due to our ongoing efforts, in 2021, Tops became the first day nursery in the UK to become a certified B.Corp business.
Today Tops Day Nurseries and Shoots Training employs over 700 colleagues across 6 counties and continues to grow. In 2020, the company celebrated its 30th anniversary, marking 30 years of Early Education and Care.

Tops Day Nurseries
Tops Day Nurseries was founded by Cheryl Hadland in 1990. Offering high quality, sustainable and flexible Early Education and Care, there are now more than 30 nurseries and 21 Hi5 clubs and is Dorset’s most successful nursery business.
Shoots Training
In 1998, Cheryl developed the second strand to the business and launched the training company, Shoots Training. Shoots offers a range of courses and apprenticeships in childcare, health and social care, and business administration.

Tops & Shoots recognises that colleague health and wellbeing is of great importance. So in 2007, the company set up a ‘Colleague Welfare Scheme’ to help colleagues with the cost of basic treatment such as dental and optical treatment. In addition to this a quick and free counselling support to colleagues who felt they needed a professional to talk to. Since then the company has grown and so have the benefits.
