Childcare and Early Education Week takes place on 24th-28th January 2022 and is run by the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG). The group was formed to support and promote the childcare and early education sector.
The aim of this week is to raise awareness of the Early Years Sector amongst Members of Parliament, peers, decision makers and influencers, and to help build strong relationships between early years educators and their local MP’s. The APPG also want to celebrate the incredible work educators do, and put a particular highlight their significant role during the Covid-19 pandemic. Early Years staff helped educate and support vulnerable children and the children of key workers, allowing them to keep the country running throughout the pandemic.
Every year this sector uses the Childcare & Early Years Education week to celebrate and reflect a particular aspect of the work of our vital work. For 2022, the theme chosen is ‘We are educators’, focusing on the integral work early years professionals do with our children and how our government can best support us.
Early education is possibly the most important thing in the first 5 years of a child’s life. It is vital that every child is given the opportunity to learn new skills and experience social interaction, and are encouraged to build their confidence. The skills children learn at nursery are incredibly important for their successful development, which is why the childcare and early years sector is so essential.
There are many ways you can get involved with Childcare and Early Education Week, for example, writing to your local MP or posting on social media using the recognised hashtags. Check out our How to Get Involved blog to find out more!
