At the end of 2018 you all worked really hard to summarise your key child’s learning and development. The data gathered showed that some of the children across our settings had delayed language. As a result, we have invested in the ‘Early Talk Boost’ programme across all of our settings.

Early Talk boost is a targeted intervention aimed at 3-4 year olds, with delayed language, to help boost their language skills and narrow the gap between them and their peers.
1 or 2 representatives from each of our settings attended a full days training session with Drew Radford, our Early Talk Boost tutor. During the training, our colleagues learnt about how to implement the programme within our settings and had the opportunity to explore the books and resources that support the programme.
Children who are selected to take part in the intervention will attend three sessions per week during circle/story time, each lasting 15-20 minutes. The sessions will be run by your trained Early Talk Boost practitioner within your setting.
The sessions include activities that cover the foundation skills in speech, language and communication that children need for learning and understanding new words, as well as having conversations.
Each of our settings has been provided with an Early Talk Boost intervention pack which includes books, puppets and musical instrument to support the programme.
‘The results so far have been fantastic. We have seen children who took part in our first 9 week intervention improve their attention and listening skills immensely’ Amy Alderson, Operations Director.
