Essential Desirable
Qualifications NVQ level 3 or equivalent NVQ Level 4, Foundation Degree, Honours Degree, First Aid Certificate, Health and Safety Certificate
Experience At least 2 years childcare experience within the Early Years Foundation Stage


Experience of managing a unit within a similar setting

2 years’ experience of managing a unit
Knowledge and understanding Strong understanding of the EYFS


Aware of how to identify gaps in children’s learning and development


Maintaining accurate records of children development


Monitoring accident trends


Effectively creating activities meeting the individual needs of the children and able to tailor these to ability and age


How to create a stimulating environment


Good understanding of leadership and management


Knowledge of Health and Safety


Keeping up to date with current practise by reading the relevant magazines and books

Personal characteristics Positive, enthusiastic and hardworking


Impeccable interpersonal skills


Flexible – primarily with start and finish times

Desire to continue with professional development
