Off the job training explained

During your apprenticeship, you will be asked to complete 20% off the job training. The time you have for off the job training is calculated from the hours you work every week, so if you work 30 hours a week you will need to complete 6 hours a week off the job training. Off the job training must be completed within your working hours.

Off the job training can be a number of different things such as,

  • Participating in online seminars
  • Individual study time
  • Being taught how to do something
  • Working alongside another colleague
  • Group learning
  • Research tasks
  • Internal learning
  • Development programmes
  • Helping at external events
  • Visiting other businesses

Off the job training is a great way to help further a learner’s progression throughout their apprenticeship.
